I checked out that link above and linked to several sites from that on the Astroworld subject. After too many hours of looking at auction photos, tear out photos and videos all the way to some vintage 8mm film conversions, had to call it a night. There is some great stuff out there on the subject. Thanks for the links.

I think that if things around here ever stop breaking, I will put these videos to a DVD. Most are vintage and really nice. There sure are a lot of people upset about the tear down of Astroworld.

Yeah, there was some fascinating stuff came out of the woodwork when plans to tear down the park and sell the land were announced. I enjoyed the old vintage footage from the 70s and the behind the scenes stuff too from people who use to work there. There was an interesting auction on eBay, some guy had architectural models of the park before it opened. Think he was just selling pictures of it though. I'd like to see it in person. Maybe someday there'll be a museum.........?? If only they'd have tried to save Cyclone, she'd a made a fine museum topper!!!!!

No kidding. Imagine that ride as a topper? I would love to see the photos of that concept model. Do you have a link to them by any chance?

Couldn't find the original auction I looked at, but was able to find a subsequent one in a completed auctions search..... AstroWorld Concept Model pics on eBayThe original auction I saw some time back had more information in his write up about how he had the model, didn't know what exactly he was going to do with, looking for options, some permanet place for it. Guess he got a lot of harassing emails or something, and edited it out.

Come to find out this guy is Ed Henderson. His company did the model and a lot of other promotional things for the park since its beginning. He has apparently found a huge stash of stuff in his warehouse and is selling it off or offering photos of it. Old film reels are being converted to DVD even. Looking at what the old brochures are selling for, it is time to dig through old boxes for some around here.

Like this Rock&Roll goldmine some lucky duck's got!! A Memorabilia Collection That Rocks at CBS news, Wolfgang's Vault a web page where they're selling off some of the stuff..........

Remember when we flipped over the thought of having a 100 meg hard drive in our computers? Those were the days.

Remember when we flipped over the thought of having a 100 meg hard drive in our computers? Those were the days. I can better that, how about wanting a floppy drive and paying near $400.00 for it. You could load a 10k file in seconds instead of the many minutes that it tock with a cassette tape drive.

I had an Atari 800 with tape drive and was always amazed that it could load data without messing up. We too paid $350 for our first big old 260K floppy drive.
