Thanks for the welcome.
Some of you may know us from HGCS site, but we've been continuing to expand our caching horizons.
We're still relative newbies to caching and are coming up on our 1 year anniversary in July.
We've been mostly hitting the SW Houston caches, but have ventured to 288 to the South and Bear Creek to the West.
I have 2 boys who enjoy caching, but mostly the older likes to haunt GC to scout new FTF opportunities.
I tend to cache in Dallas a lot where work takes me frequently, but try to cache wherever work makes me go.
I look forward to reading the threads on this website and hope to start getting over to the East side - the first one on my list is Orange Grove (the initial coordinates are actually the closest to my home, but the projection is, I think, 40 miles, so we haven't got to that one yet.
Thanks!

Thanks! Glad to have you here. One note on Orange Grove cache. It is not a projection, it is a rhumb line plot. We mariners plot our courses. A projection would be an unknown and could leave you grounded. Go to www.oziexplorer.com/ and download a copy of Oziexplorer. This program will give rhumb line distance and bearing. As always I am happy to affirm coordinates.

I had fun doing Orange Grove. I tried several methods, plot, projection, darts. The plot came the closest. My inaccuracies (thick pencil lead) put me to within several hundred feet, but when you get to the area, it has a limited number of places it could be. I plotted the course several times and got a scatterplot, so I felt confident of where it might be. If I remember correctly a projection puts you very far away....don't go that route.

I got the SW, now I need to learn to use it! I'm really glad I didn't do the projection and drive out there now. I appreciate the help.

Most have been able to find it with a projection. Your looking for a orange tree by a utility pole. Now it has some orange tape on it. I just love how a cache is aways changing. Thanks, CaptainJ! Glad to be here. I've lived in SE Houston just outside the loop for 26 years, but just started GCing Memorial Day 2006.
As for my handle, I have been "in the wind" for 35 years (gosh I don't feel that old!)
