Found the link to these forums on a cache and thought I'd stop by. I started caching seriously last fall, then my GPS died just in time for the holidays. I just got my GPS replaced yesterday and I'm ready to get back out there

Hi careyj,
Glad to have you here. Great weather today to have done some caching, if the rains haven't made it too swampy............

Hi, new to the site and new to geocaching. My kids and I went for the first time last weekend and found 4 out of 5 (5th in the woods seemed like and kept losing good sat. signal, or we were just way off base . Nice to see that this group is so close to us, we are in Dayton, TX. I am going to check out the rest of the site and forums. Hey why do some people have stars and some don't? and some have noobie member? Did I ask in the wrong forum? Sorry if so. The Kasma Gang (KimAlexSarahMadisonAJ)

The Kasma Gang (KimAlexSarahMadisonAJ) Hi kasmagang, and welcome to the forum. That's a good haul 4 out 5 on a first outing! The stars under people's names are member groups and member rankings. The only member groups we have are staff who are the admins and moderators, the other stars are member rankings and that is based solely on the number of post a member has made. You only need 2 post to not be a Noobie (Newbie) Member any more! The more you post the higher your "rank" and the more stars you get.

LOL Captain J and thanks for the welcome Bud. So do most of you find your caches thru geocaching.com? That is where I went to find ours, the kids absolutely love this thing and I am pretty hooked myself. Hard to make myself not go without the kids, but have found that I can work out the puzzle ones first and that mostly satisfies the urge until the kids are home for a weekend. Sucks this weekend with the rain and cold though. Like the site. Am reading lots and lots about this nutty thing and loving it!

Terracaching is more flexible so it's worth looking at. Rain and cold makes good for the FTF (First To Find) which are hard to get sometimes. There may even be a new cache in Dayton to find. We here at East Side Cachers have been posting a heads-up on our new caches so it's good to check the forum for any new ones. Sometimes it takes Geocaching.com 72 hours to approve a new cache. Glad you enjoy this new game.

Thanks for the PM I forgot to book this site and it took forever to find it again. Doesn't come up with google, msn, yahoo....nothing connecting to you under eastside cachers, but luckily I found a site that had a link so found my say back.
