Went over to San Jacinto Battleground State Park yesterday, and was disappointed to find they are now charging for entrance to the park. ($1.00 per adult)
You have to enter up by the reflecting pool across from the Battleship Texas, the other entrance is closed, for now anyway. The fee includes entrance to the area across Battleground Road, where the Battleship and De Zavala Plaza are. There's a pay booth on that side too, and which ever side you visit first, you get a temp paper pass that will gain you entrance to the other side for your one fee.
I'm not sure just how many caches are still in the park, there use to be several before GC.com changed their rules on placing caches in state parks. Now it's gonna cost ya more if you're going for any of them.................
BTW, the museum is still free except for the park entrance fee, but it's currently closed for renovations.

I think there's still quite a few active caches in the park. A buck doesn't sound too bad, if they'll put the $$ towards park maintenance. Hey, maybe it will discourage some of the midday rendevous that seem to go on there!

Hey, maybe it will discourage some of the midday rendevous that seem to go on there! Nay, a buck isn't too bad, especially if it will keep some of those of a more preverted persuasion out of there. But, those little brown guard shacks they've set up are a bit trashy looking. The one on the monument side looks especially out of place. Kinda spoils the lovely view of the monument and reflecting pool.

The money will be used for something good we hope. Looks like another good thing coming to an end. We will still pay the buck.

We went by yesterday and it was a free entry day on the monument side.

Wonder if they are going to have free days like the museums have?
