Well, I got FTF on the 2OPT II but as usual wttb-2 beat me to 2OPT III. He signed at 6:45 so must have grabbed it on his way home. Wrote coords down wrong in my hurry this a.m. so missed out on I and IV. Nice day for a drive though. Sorry for the weekend finders though. It sucks they can't manage to post them sooner. I would rather have done this with my kids. Yesterday was a perfect day for a 2OPT. Might want to look at that log again, I was already there this morning and signed the log. Also didn't take the Micro Visiting TB as HC retrieved it from the last cache I put it in. One of the few quirks that working shift work has is when working nights I get out before the early morning rush. ;D 5 FTFs in a morning's run and into bed by 0830. I was too tired to log them when I first got home though. HC looked at the log. You signed by turning the page the mystery coords were on. I just flipped over the log and signed on the back, which I thought was the front. I already changed my log at gc.com to reflect that it wasn't an FTF. Sorry, I didn't mean to try and cop an FTF from you, honest.

Since that cache (2OPTII) is like 30 seconds from my house, and I was going right by there on my way out to A Thrif-Tee Place, I decided to stop and peek at the log. As I was leaving, I thought to myself, "if that quick stop makes me be STF at Thrif-Tee to kasma gang, I'm gonna wish I'd stopped to check it on the way back instead." Sure enough, when I get to the cache site, there's kasma, etrex in hand, trying to look inconspicuous. Luckily (for me) WTT-B2's hiding spot had her stumped a little. It was great meeting you, Kim.

I've heard that if you want a cache posted for, say, Saturday morning, and you list it several days ahead of time, you can put a reviewer note asking PA that once he approves it, to hold it until the weekend before publishing it. I'm planning of putting some caches in the Baytown Nature center to go along with the two that remain in there -- make it worth someone's while to pay the $3 entry. When I do, I'll try asking PA to hold them till the weekend and see if he will work with me. It's worth a shot for a proper FTF race!
I may also see if I can adopt the two caches that remain in that park and try to spruce them up a little. Of course, the only problem with caching in a large part of that park is that you have to go on foot, or bring a bicycle. No PNG's there!

Nice meeting you, too, HC. Figured I would run into you sooner or later. If I hadn't forgotten about this one and headed to LA 1st thing this morning, I might still be there, trying to figure out "what-the-heck!" Good thing you were there as I was about to start looking more like a parking lot mugger than a cacher, that's how frustrated I was. I had been there about 15 mins. I KNEW where it was, just not WHERE it was. I'd pay $3 just for the heck of it. It's supposed to be a great weekend weather-wise. Do you know if they allow motorcycles in that park? Usually they don't, but if they did, I might finally get some interest out of my dh. He can't for the life of him figure out why I do this. He has been with me on 2. One the I-10 bug one, other the Tour the Trace. He was ready to leave in about 3 mins of not finding it. Maybe if I can hook riding the Harley into it, it might just work! ;D ;D

It's actually been almost a year since I've been in the park, and they've moved the entrance since then. Still, I don't think that much has changed since then. The park is an old neighborhood that subsided into the bay. Most all the old neighborhood streets are still there, but the way the park is set up, you can only drive in on them so far. You can go all the way down Bayshore Dr. to the point and there are some picnic facilities there. When you turn on W. Bayshore, the road is barricaded after a short distance. From there on, the other 80% of the park is no motor vehicles allowed. I walked it the first time -- in rubber boots. I wouldn't recommend that! I think a bicycle would come in handy. I'll get more info if and when I start placing caches.
Hey, I've seen at least one event where they combined motorcycles with caching. Mrs. Captain Picard had an event called "Motorcycles and Tatoos in the Hill Country" (GCQF6G) back in November -- so it can be done!

He or 'they' could have let someone know, all I got from the complaint I wrote was to be told that 72 hours for approval was the norm and 50 hours was way ahead of schedule and 'my' approver was doing a fantastic job. Been to the nature center twice since it opened, caching both times. We use to go crabbing down there back in the early 90s when the lawsuits were still going on and before they made the bird sanctuary out of it. It's nice in there, unless you're by yourself, which I was once! It's $3 per person isn't it, to get in?

I already got the OK to adopt Room with a View from the owner and I'm getting supplies together to place the other caches. When I do this, I'll probably just pony up the $25 for a year pass into the park. Then I can go check on the caches whenever I want.

You can just put everyone else in the trunk -- like we used to sneak into the drive-in movies back in the day! ;D
